Drive In Movie: Tin Cup

Join Boomers Rock as they host Tin Cup at the Magellan Golf Course Driving Range for a Drive In Movie on Saturday, May 28. Gates will open at 7:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at dark. They’ll be trivia and prizes before the movie, free popcorn, and the Magellan Deli will be open for concessions. In partnership with the Recreation and Golf Departments, Golf Carts will be available.

Advance tickets are $5.00 plus tax and will be sold until Friday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets at the door will be $7.00.

The Musical Note featuring Jackie B and Me

Jackie B an Me returns to The Musical Note at the Coronado Community Center after reaching the semi-finals of the Memphis International Blues Competition. Jackie and Larry competed against over 250 groups from around the world. Their original music, voices, and performance makes them one of the very best blues artist in the competition. Jackie Beaumont and Larry Womack play music from various genres from Pop, Country, Jazz, Blues, and 40’s until the present. Jackie has performed on stage with Jim Belushi at the World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade; you’ve enjoyed her performances with the Kopy Katz, Colt and the Old 45’s, and in the Hot Springs Village production of Titanic. Jackie and Larry also performed with Peter Peterkin on the Woodlands Stage in November 2014. Jackie and Larry perform in Hot Springs and can be seen at the Arlington and the Ohio Club. Please join us for an amazing evening of dancing and sing along with Jackie B and Me.

Sunset Wine and Cheese Paddle

Join Basecamp for another wine and cheese event. We will be paddling beautiful Lake Coronado and having wine and cheese with music on the courtyard of the Coronado Community Center. $7 (plus tax) for HSV members and $10 (plus tax) for non-members. Bring your own kayak, canoe, paddleboard with personal floatation device (PFD). If you don’t have your own kayak, canoe or paddleboard, we have 5 single kayaks that can be rented for an additional $10 (plus tax); 9 paddleboards (4 Versa) that can be rented for an additional $10 (plus tax); and 2 tandem kayaks that can be rented for an additional $15 (plus tax)—(all include a Basecamp PFD.) Minimum of 8 for event. Beginners will receive instruction and techniques demonstration. Those bringing their own watercraft will need to drop at launch near boat slips and park in the Coronado Fitness Center or library parking lot. We will begin between the helicopter pad and the boat slips. We look forward to seeing you for a great evening of paddling, wine, cheese and socializing.

Tammy McCullough Art Class

In partnership with the Coronado Center Library, Tammy McCullough is presenting free Art Classes for ages 12 to adult. Different topics will be covered in each class. If you have always wanted to create Art but didn’t know where to start or just want to expand your techniques, these classes are for you. The class will cover how to design a painting, values color wheel, sketching, water colors, acrylic and oils among other topics. You will leave with a piece of art you create by applying the skills learned in the class. The classes are free, but a ticket is required. Seating for each class is limited to 18.

Muses Project presents "Broadway Cabaret"

Please join the Muses Creative Artistry Project for “Broadway Cabaret” on Friday, June 17, 7:30 pm at the Woodlands Auditorium in Hot Springs Village. This 90-minute concert (two 45-minute sets with a 15-minute intermission), features a variety of musical selections from eleven Broadway shows, all masterfully performed in solos, duets, quartets, ensembles, instrumental and dance pieces; guaranteed to delight the hearts of musical theatre lovers! The Muses Performance Troupe of 23 outstanding national and local professional singers, dancers and instrumentalists, will present perennial favorites from Annie Get Your Gun, Guys & Dolls, Sweeny Todd, Les Miserables, Westside Story, The King & I, Candide, Chicago, Into the Woods, Man of La Mancha and Cabaret. Tickets are $30 each.

The Art of Gourmet Herbal Cooking with Chef Mike Tripp

Chef Mike Tripp of Rosemary Hill Herb Farm will teach you the art of using fresh herbs to make a delicious meal with affordable ingredients. Chef Mike will prepare a delicious menu of salad greens with herb Vinaigrette, Marinated Herbal Steak, Tarragon Scallion Deviled Eggs, Pan Roasted Herbed New Potatoes, and Homemade Herb Crusted French Bread. Participants will enjoy sharing a light meal to sample everything we prepare! There will be an inexpensive red wine that will go with these dishes served to those who wish to partake. Patsy Pays Tribute

“Patsy Pays Tribute” Is a show performed by Arkansas’ own Sarah Haman. Under the musical direction of Doug Lackey, this show is one of the best tributes to Patsy Cline and the women in music she influenced. Sarah is an extraordinary singer/entertainer, and her masterful recreation of Patsy’s classic music is authentic and heartfelt. Even though “Patsy Pays Tribute” is a relatively new show, Sarah is no stranger to performing Patsy’s music. Sarah has performed as Patsy at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse, where she was featured in Cline’s family-endorsed production of “Always Patsy Cline”. With the accompaniment of her live band, you’ll not only hear Sarah’s rendition of Patsy’s music but also the music of the women who influenced, and had an influence on, Patsy as well. “Patsy Pays Tribute” includes music from Dottie West, Loretta Lynn, Brenda Lee and Judy Garland. “Patsy Pays Tribute” will perform at 2PM and 7PM at the Coronado Center on Saturday August, 20th. Jewelry Wire Wrapping, September 6 through the September 8

Jewelry Wire Wrapping is a partnership with National Park College and the Coronado Community Center. This will be a 3 consecutive day class. Marlene Gremillion will teach you to use wire and beads to create a necklace, bracelet, and earrings in this class. You will make your own fasteners, ear wires, and head pins. Working with copper wire, you will learn to use hand tools to create loops and wraps. You can look forward to a very creative experience! Supplies for the class will be pliers with no grooves (round nose, flat, chain nose, wire cutters (flush cut type), chasing hammer if you have one, and glasses for close work. The class will be working with copper wire square, round and half round and a variety of beads. Material fee for this is ten dollars and will be paid to the instructor.

The Coronado Community Center in partnership with the Oaklawn Center on Aging is presenting “Basic Photography” with professional photographers, Taylor Bellott, Todd Frazior, and Corbet Deary. From beginner to advanced photographer, there will be interesting and valuable information to gain during this class. The will be classroom from 10 AM until 12:00 PM with Get to Know Your Camera. Break for lunch and begin again at 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM with outdoor photography. Each participant will be assigned with a professional photographer for outdoor shooting. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn and work with a professional photographer whether just a beginner or advanced.
