Ten Penny Gypsy - Winter at the Woodlands

Thursday, January 24, 2019 - 7:00 PM

Justin Patterson and Laura Lynn Danley, aka Ten Penny Gypsy, have been following the beat of their own drum for years. A fortuitous, chance encounter at a songwriter showcase in Arkansas changed their destiny and direction, and this alt-country Americana duo was formed. Ten Penny Gypsy was honored to be among the final top five nominees in three categories for the 2018 Arkansas Country Music Awards: “Album of the Year”, “Americana/Roots Artist of the Year”, and “Vocal Group of the Year”. “Justin reminds me of what would happen if James Taylor and Gordon Lightfoot had a love child”, muses David Hughes, a promoter with Unknown Legends Artists in Hot Springs, AR. “He writes insightful, heartfelt, and intelligent lyrics. His songs can be haunting one minute and turn rockabilly the next. He is a refreshing voice and talented writer”. The latter could also be said of his musical partner, Laura Lynn Danley who is very reminiscent of Tammy Wynette or Joni Mitchell. She has an intriguing and infectious personality, with a vulnerability that draws you in. Hot Springs Village POA presents Ten Penny Gypsy at the Woodlands Auditorium on January 24th at 7pm. Tickets are $15 each or can be purchased with the Winter at the Woodlands package and receive both shows for only $25. Winter at the Woodlands is a two-show winter event featuring Ten Penny Gypsy on January 24th and the Remnants of Rock on February 21st. The Remnants of Rock - Winter at the Woodlands

Thursday, February 21, 2019 - 7:00 PM

Rock and Roll was born in the late 1950s, and by the end of the 1960s, the music had produced such legends as Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Motown and the Memphis sound. The consensus among historians is that the greatest popular music of all time was created during this ten-year period. Unquestionably, the music defined a generation and continues to be embraced by younger generations. The Remnants of Rock, formerly known as The St. James Group, formed in 1968 in the middle of this historic era. The band shared the stage with some of the biggest artists of the 1970s and performed on college campuses from New Orleans to Chicago and all points in between. They also engaged in recording projects for United Artists and Mercury Records. Imagine walking into the student union for the homecoming dance on any college campus during the years 1965-1969 and hearing the best dance band you’ve ever heard! Close your eyes and think back, because this is the performance The Remnants will deliver. Hot Springs Village POA presents The Remnants of Rock at the Woodlands Auditorium on February 21st at 7pm. Tickets are $15 each or can be purchased with the Winter at the Woodlands package and receive both shows for only $25. To purchase as a package, select the “Event Packages” tab above the listings. Winter at the Woodlands is a two-show winter event featuring Ten Penny Gypsy on January 24th and the Remnants of Rock on February 21st.
